How did it all start?

In 2008, around 50 000 people from Estonia came together and within 5 hours, helped in cleaning up the entire country. This is where the story of the Let’s Do It Foundation began. In 2011, the idea gave birth to the foundation which had the ambition to continue the cleaning of countries just in one day.

It has managed to get more support and has membership from more than 150 countries worldwide. The foundation also gave birth to the World Cleanup Day movement.

World Cleanup Day

In 2018, one of the biggest ever civic action plans against waste happened on 15th September. In what is commonly known as the World Cleanup Day, over 17 million people from 157 countries participated. They collectively took their stand on their choice to make the world a cleaner place.

A century ago, the level of pollution was lower compared to what we are experiencing in our millennial age. An age where industrialization and urbanization have taken their roots in various parts of the world. In a bid to curb the consequences, World Cleanup Day has come up strongly to ensure our planet is free of trash.

World Cleanup Day is making this planet a better place to live in. Powered by its cooperation and collaboration, it has shown the world the power of working together towards achieving a certain goal. Having support and participants from 157 countries across the world, World Cleanup Day saw volunteers, donors, and partners worldwide who came together with one goal of cleaning up the world. Their aim was to clean up litters and other waste on various beaches, streets, rivers, and even forests.

2019 Clean World Conference

The World Cleanup Day organisation held the 2019 Clean World Conference on the 24th to 27th of January in Tallinn, Estonia. Dagcoin participated as a partner and this move has been applauded by many people and groups with interest in keeping the world clean.

With an unexpected turn out of around 300 people from over 100 countries, this was by far one of the most successful Clean World Conferences to date.

During the conference, there were workshops, panels, and activities which focus on the Keep It Clean Plan. Participants and country teams got together and created blueprints for how to make their countries clean and waste-free. Of course, with the help from other citizens from the private and public sectors.

The struggle to keep the world clean needs to be told to the rest of the world. Dagcoin is a company with some resources to its reach. Therefore, it can provide the much-needed help in giving the World Cleanup Day movement the attention it needs. This attention is going to highlight its struggles and may even receive help from other interested parties.

What’s next?

Dagcoin has shown us how different sub-sectors can pull together in ensuring that we have a clean natural environment. Its participation in the Clean World Conference cannot be wished away and its effect is going to be evident for years to come. There are many ways in which Dagcoin can help in the cause as seen above. Its resiliency is needed to ensure that the goals of this movement are met.

Participation of different sectors in achieving a common goal in nature conservancy is an excellent move. This enables the Cleanup movements to meet their targets in having a clean environment. It could be amazing if more companies join the movement and help make the earth a nice place to inhabit. You can also join the World Cleanup Day to ensure that we are making environment greener, cleaner, and safer.

The next World Cleanup Day will be on the 21st of September, 2019. Are you going to participate? Let us know!
