Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, said in a recent interview that the ride-sharing giant will consider accepting cryptocurrency payments through the platform in the future.

"Just like we accept all kinds of local currency, we are going to look at cryptocurrency and/or Bitcoin in terms of currency to transact(...)" Khosrowshahi said in an interview with CNBC.

“That's good for business, that's good for our riders and our eaters, so we'll certainly look at that. And if there's a benefit there, if there's a need there, we'll do it, we are just not going to do it as part of a promotion." he went on to say, highlighting the importance of this type of payment needing to be necessary if implemented.

Uber’s consideration of cryptocurrency payment methods echoes the sentiment of many other merchants around the world that are very quickly moving towards similar models.
